Legazi is a very friendly and attractive town in the Philippines. It is dominated to the north by the Mayon Volcano, which offers lots of photo ops. It’s a great area to explore by bicycle if you can stand the heat of the summer. The volcano erupted while I was in Legazpi and several climbers, including foreign tourists, were killed. The volcano was shut down after that, and there was talk of banning all future climbs to the top. Since climbs up the volcano are a big tourist draw, I doubt that they followed through on that ban.
